Can DAYLE attendees participate in DAYLE by themselves?
DAYLE attendees are required to attend with a parent or other adult companion. Those who prefer to be housed with their parents are housed with their parents. Those youth who prefer and/or are able to be housed with other DAYLE youth are housed together when possible.
Do companions stay with DAYLE attendees throughout the entire event?
Parents/companions attend
some of the DAYLE sessions with youth (worship, speakers, etc). There are other sessions, Bible Studies, small groups, etc. that youth attend alone. There are special times for parents/care givers/companions to meet with one another during these times. Any youth who needs to take a break from "scheduled programming" is able to do so with the consent of their companion.
How much does DAYLE cost for the participant? For the companion?
The cost for DAYLE is $150 per person, including adult companions/parents. This fee covers all food and housing for the event.
Do DAYLE companions pay to attend the Gathering as well?
For the Gathering, parents/companions who attend DAYLE are
not required to pay the Gathering registration fee for the adult. The Gathering subsidizes the cost of the registration for the adult companion with a DAYLE attendee to the Gathering.
Can a DAYLE participant and his/her companion still register for DAYLE?Yes! DAYLE still has a few openings left. If you are interested in registering for DAYLE, contact Kristen Glass Perez at
Kristen.GlassPerez@elca.org directly and she will register you for the event. DAYLE registration is scheduled to close May 26, with the closing of the Gathering registration.
How does a DAYLE participant and his/her companion register for DAYLE?
In order to attend, your church's coordinator should register a DAYLE participant and their companion when they sign up for the Gathering. This is because the Gathering registration is done by congregation. When your congregation leader fills out the form, there are pages for individual attendees to DAYLE. Both the DAYLE participant and companion must be registered for the gathering and registered by a congregational group. Registration opens October 9, 2011 and closes in May 2012.
Do DAYLE participants need to change hotels between DAYLE and the Gathering?DAYLE participants have the option of staying at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans for the duration of both DAYLE and the Gathering. However, DAYLE participants and their companions will also have the option to rejoin their congregational group, if they would prefer. If the DAYLE participant chooses to change hotels to be with his/her congregation, be sure to make appropriate housing reservations for the Gathering according to your congregation's assigned hotel. If needed, transportation to assist with this move will be provided by the Gathering.
What if a DAYLE participant has mobility issues? How are they transported during DAYLE/the Gathering?
The Gathering also provides transportation during the Gathering for DAYLE participants who need assistance to and from the Convention Center and the Super Dome.
