Transportation, Housing and Meals
Congregations are responsible for the cost and means of travel to and from MYLE. Options include air travel, Amtrak, vans or buses. If arriving with a vehicle that requires parking, you are responsible for finding and paying for parking.
If you are arriving via air travel and would like to book a discounted shuttle for your group, visit the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering Special Discounted Airport Shuttle page to sign up for a discounted $25 round-trip shuttle for your group.
There are a few simple rules that you must follow to get this discounted rate:
- In order to book your discounted airport/hotel shuttle reservations online, you must book no later than 24 hours prior to your flight arrival time.
- Changes to an existing reservation can be made by phone (866-596-2699) only if you made your original reservation online.
- The round trip ticket discount is only for tickets bought through this website.
The MYLE event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 601 Loyola Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. MYLE Participants will be housed in this hotel as well. same hotel. Housing is provided for July 16 and 17.
MYLE housing is booked directly with the hotel; and the MYLE staff make the housing arrangements and rooming lists. MYLE covers the costs of sleeping rooms for July 16 and 17. Because MYLE is a subsidized event, each sleeping room is filled to capacity. This means that youth from one congregation may be housed with youth of another congregation and an adult from one congregation may be housed with an adult from another congregation. This is done to make sure that we are being good stewards of the funds we have been graciously given to use for this event and we are thankful for the cooperation of each congregation. All congregations received a MYLE Housing Form by email. For those congregations who returned the Housing Form, the MYLE staff tried to accommodate housing requests as best as we were able. For those congregations that did not submit a MYLE Housing Form, housing arrangements were assigned.
After the MYLE event, congregations will check out of their MYLE rooms and go to the hotel that has been assigned to them. Some MYLE congregations will remain in the Hyatt. They will check out of their MYLE rooms and check into their Gathering rooms. Other congregations will be moving hotels. As this can be time-consuming and cumbersome, the Gathering transportation team has generously volunteered to transport those congregations to areas near their assigned hotels. Details about this transportation will be given at the event.
During the MYLE event all meals are provided. These meals include: dinner on July 16, breakfast, lunch and dinner on July 17 and breakfast on July 18. Congregations were given space on the MYLE Housing Form to express any special dietary needs any of the participants may have. For those congregations that returned the Housing Form and included this information, these special dietary needs will be accommodated.
