Gathering Offerings

Opportunities to give to others before and during the Gathering

ELCA youth are very generous. Not only do they share their own money (and talents) freely, they also invite their families, friends and entire congregations to give in the same spirit.

There are four giving opportunities connected with the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering:
  1. The offering collected during closing worship on Sunday morning, July 22, 2012
The offering collected during the closing worship on Sunday, July 22, will benefit four specific causes. These ministries are an example of our church’s mission domestically and internationally, mission made possible because of the sharing of our collective prayers and resources. 2. 100 Wells Challenge
This is a special offering of money to build wells in places around the world that don’t have access to clean water. It costs $2,500 per well. Click here to learn more.
  3. In-kind offering of children’s books
Literacy was an issue that existed in New Orleans pre-Katrina, and now that much of the dust has settled from the hurricane, literacy is re-emerging as a major stumbling block to living healthy lives. Teachers and administrators in New Orleans’ schools will tell us what books they need. Click here to see what books are needed.
  4. Online giving to service experiences
ELCA youth will participate in service experiences throughout the city of New Orleans. You can support the service of youth on behalf of the ELCA by giving online to specific equipment and project needs. Click here to learn more.
