We have a shared responsibility in making the Gathering a safe and meaningful experience of God’s people gathered in a particular place and time. When preparing with your youth and parents, create
covenants together that include safety concerns, such as:
- What to do in an emergency
- Exchanging cell phone numbers
- Using common sense when traveling
- Walking in groups of three or more
- Letting Adult Leaders know where you are going
- Being mindful of your surroundings
- Adhering to curfews

The Gathering has safety guidelines and procedures in place that will help your congregation gain its bearings in the city, and suggestions for touring as respectful guests and reflective disciples. Community Life will lead all adults in an orientation process during registration on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 17 and 18, 2012.
Congregations are encouraged to plan their travel to allow adequate time on Wednesday to check into their hotel, register at the convention center, and get to the Superdome for the opening session which starts at 7 p.m.
