New Congregational Starts in the ELCA read more
The development of new congregations is a high priority in the ELCA. Local leaders in synods envision and plan for healthy, missional, evangelizing, and multiplying congregations. Those leaders are accompanied by a host of supporters as they nurture new disciples for Jesus Christ, who, in turn, use their gifts for God’s kingdom in the church and in the world. Of the 2008 approved sites, 41 have started as congregations-under-development and 17 as synodically authorized worshiping communities.
