You can learn a lot about congregations by reading the weekly bulletin and newsletter. Due to the nature of my work, several congregations have me on their mailing lists. So when the newsletters arrive in my mailbox or e-mail, I can often get a pretty good read of the ongoing ministry. read more PDF Format

Usually I was the only person who was NOT part of a 501(c)3 organization - whose job is to raise funds for a charity or institution. Joe’s favorite line was, “I’ve been around awhile”. He had served in the 1st World War and, as a general contractor, built houses up until retirement in the mid-1960’s. His life and experience had taught him much about people, so he couldn’t figure out why these fishermen would do what they did.

Ted was proudly passing around a picture of his new son, held by his father, as he, Ted looked on. It was a typical three generation photo. One of those viewing the photo quipped, “What is, what was, and what will be.”

In 1995 Pastor Rodger answered the call to begin a new ministry in the southern desert of Utah. He packed up his family, with some excitement and much apprehension. It was the middle of summer when they arrived. Suddenly, he understood a new meaning of the term wilderness. This community in Utah was a very far cry from his native Minnesota.
