ELCA Travel Subsidy
On an as-needed basis, the ELCA Vocation and Education unit will subsidize travel costs for an ELCA college if a subsidy will make the difference between participating or not participating in the conference. Please contact
Marilyn Olson or
Kathie Baker before making plane reservations; flights
must be made through Best Travel, the ELCA travel desk. If ELCA is not subsidizing your travel, you may make your reservations as usual.
NOTE: Participants are responsible for such expenses as (1) registration fee (2) transportation to, from, and around Scottsdale, (3) hotel costs and incidentals, and (4) no-host meals/activities. The hotel has a full complimentary breakfast, as well as an afternoon Hospitality Suite. Omar Correa, Concordia College, has graciously volunteered to host an ELCA Enrollment Mangers Hospitality Suite. Suite number is not yet determined.

Instead, it will contribute toward a pizza dinner in the EM Hospitality Suite following the Thursday afternoon session. The order, which will include salad, will not be placed until the “number” of diners has been confirmed.
Friday Dinner - On Your OwnFriday evening will be “free time” for you to explore Old Scottsdale, the Mall, and local eateries. Suggestions will be offered and car pools arranged, if needed.
Getting To/From The Chaparral Suites
The Chaparral Suites provides a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Please call the Chaparral Suites from the baggage claim area when you arrive in Phoenix, after you retrieve your luggage. The number is 1-480-949-1414.
Dress Code“Business casual,” but do be comfortable! Please remember that hotel meeting rooms can be quite chilly (as can Scottsdale in January!), so dressing in layers is highly recommended. Evenings could also be somewhat cool. Check the local weather before packing. It could turn quite chilly, as we’ve experienced in the past!
Special Thanks to the planning committee: Matt Ward, California Lutheran University; Darryl Jones, Gettysburg; Amy Poggendorf, Midland Lutheran College; James Pennix, Roanoke; Michael Kyle, St. Olaf College; Marilyn Olson, Colleges & Universities, ELCA; to RuffaloCODY and John Baird for sponsoring the pre-conference session and the EM Hospitality Suite; and to Omar Correa for hosting the EM Hospitality Suite!
