Bethany College, Lindsborg, KansasBethany College, established by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881, is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The mission of Bethany College is to nurture and challenge individuals in their search for truth and meaning as they lead lives of faith, learning and service.

Five principles shape Bethany’s identity: integrity, hospitality, relationship, leadership and sustainability. Members of the Bethany community aspire to these principles in their life and work.

Bethany College offers the Bachelor of Arts in 52 majors and concentrations, the Bachelor of Music in four majors and the Bachelor of Music Education in two majors. In addition, students may choose from 20 minors and nine teaching endorsements. Bethany’s teacher education, social work and music programs are nationally accredited, and its music and art programs have brought international attention to the college. The majority of Bethany students major in business, teacher education, biology or criminal justice.

According to the nationally administered Student Satisfaction Index, Bethany College students rate the college’s academic advising and instructional effectiveness significantly higher than do students at similar colleges.

Students also grow through co-curricular activities, including 15 intercollegiate sports, theatre, campus ministry, student media, undergraduate research, student government and instrumental and vocal ensembles. Bethany offers performance awards for participation in most of these activities.

Qualifying students may be accepted into the Bethany College Honors Program, which gives bright and intellectually curious students additional mentoring and academic opportunities.

All students are encouraged to participate in Experience-Based Education, an internship-for-credit program in which students explore career options and gain practical experience while earning credit toward graduation.

The result is alumni who stand out from their counterparts. Nearly 100 percent of art-education majors are placed in public schools across the country; more than 90 percent of music majors are placed in music-related careers; 90 percent of social work students are employed upon graduation; and 90 percent of pre-med students who apply to medical school are accepted.

Ninety-five percent of Bethany College students receive financial aid. For more information, go to www.bethanylb.edu or call (800) 826-2281.
