Criteria for Affiliation of Schools and Centers

Schools of the ELCA may be operated by an association of congregations including at least one ELCA congregation and/or other Lutheran congregations and congregations of church bodies with whom the ELCA is in fellowship. These documents detail the criteria and process for affiliation application.

IRS Form 5578

IRS Revenue Procedure 75-50 requires all private schools, including Lutheran schools, to establish they have a racially nondiscriminatory policy for student enrollment. IRS Form 5578 is used by organizations that operate tax-exempt schools in order to provide the IRS with the annual certification of racial nondiscrimination required by IRS regulations.
