The 2008-2009 Torrison Scholarship Fund Awardees

Congratulations to the recipients of the Dr. George and Emma J. Torrison Scholarship for the year 2008-2009: Megan Drelles, Roshel Egbert, Cali Johnson and Tate Lage. Each of these recipients has been awarded $4,000 to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. George and Emma J. Torrison specified in their intent for this scholarship that the recipients would be persons whose careers would lead them toward working to alleviate presently incurable diseases.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must hold membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and be graduating seniors accepted as first-year students in an accredited medical school. They are judged on merit, not on need.

Nominations are made by an applicant’s ELCA college president or his/her designee, their ELCA campus pastor, or the pastor of the ELCA church in which the applicant holds membership.

Since the inception of the Torrison Scholarship in 1988, the award has assisted 89 students to equip themselves for their vocations in medicine.
