Making Sure our Church Spaces are Accessible to All

Part of what it means to be inclusive involves accessibility of a church building and a worship space. We are also called to make sure that our meetings and church activities are accessible to all.  The ELCA Accessibility Guide provides tips on what to look for if a congregation wants a meeting to be fully accessible to all people.  If a congregation is interested in making the church building and worship space more physically accessible, we suggest that you contact a consultant through the ELCA Mission Investment Fund to help. 

In years past, Disability Ministries has offered an Accessibility Award for Congregations who have made significan efforts to make sure their buildings are accessible.  We hope to begin to offer the award again in 2010.
