St. Elias Christian Church, 1500 W. Elmdale Ave. Chicago, IL 60660 and at the Lutheran Center, ELCA Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois
Thirteen people from The Mother of the Savior Lutheran Church in Dearborn, MI and St. Elias Christian Church in Chicago, IL gathered under the theme “Discipleship: A Calling to Leadership.” The purpose of this gathering was to empower youth to become future leaders in our Middle Eastern ministries. MORE (PDF)

Arab Pastors Meeting
May 27 & 28, 2008
Location: Lutheran Center, ELCA Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois
A meeting for the Arab and Middle Eastern pastors was held at the ELCA. We discussed the possibility of having an online hymnal resource for the Arab and Middle Eastern ministry. Met with the Rev. Robert Smith and discussed ways where the Arab and Middle Easter ministry can help our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land/Middle East through Global Mission Unit. Met with Joe Young, Director of Development Community Services in Church in Society and arranged visits to the Arab and Middle Eastern ministry in Chicago, IL and Dearborn, MI to help them in different projects in terms of development, relief and organizing.

Arab and Middle Eastern Ministry – Regional Gathering
June 14 & 15, 2007
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Members of the Association of Lutherans of Arab and Middle Eastern Heritage (ALAMEH) met with Rev. Sherman Hicks, Executive Director, Multicultural Ministries in Louisville, KY in June 14-16, 2007. The following topics were discussed:
    Rev. Sherman Hicks gave an introduction of the ELCA Restructuring
    The role of ALAMEH towards the Multicultural Ministries as a programmatic unit
    The role of ALAMEH, and the implementation of the ELCA Arab and Middle Eastern Ministry Strategy.
All participants agreed to work together in an effective and efficient way to help in the implementing of the strategy. We agreed to form a group of 10 to go through and update the ALAMEH By-Laws.
