We are one body in Christ. We are called to live in one faith and one baptism. The church of Christ is composed with people from different cultures, traditions and languages. As Latino Christians, faithful to the Lord, we can not function separate from others nor isolated from ourselves or the rest of the body, which is the Church. 

Paul wrote: “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus”. Galatians 3:28 (NRSV) Paul emphasizes the fact that the differences that once divided us must give way to unity that has been made possible through the gospel. 

Within the diversity of cultures we must fight and work for unity of all Lutheran members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. For this reason we gather as an association, the Holy Spirit will guide our efforts of working together for the kingdom of God.

Purpose:

• Contribute to strengthening the proclamation of the Gospel.
• Promote inclusivity, without assimilation and diversity, without segregation.
• Fight racism in the Church.

To reach our purposes:

• Assist the Church in increasing the Latino Lutheran community.
• Assisting all the units, synod and regions of the ELCA to achieve a greater understanding of the cultural diversity of Latinos
• Assist the Church and constituents to be more representative of society in which it serves.
• Encourage and promote the maximum participation of Latinos in programs of the Church and in the conception, design and implementation of new programs.
• Promote the values of our heritage.
• Assist the Church in achieving and implementing plans for Latino ministry.
• Assist the Church to recruit and offer support to Latinos for the occupation of positions with decision authority in the Church.
• Affirm the ministry of pastors and lay Latinos within the Church.
• Strengthen ecclesiastical vocations in our Church.
• Representative voice of the Latino community in the Church.

 

Somos un cuerpo en Cristo. Se nos llama a vivir en una fe y un bautismo. La iglesia de Cristo está formada de gentes con distintas culturas, tradiciones e idiomas. Como cristianos hispanos fieles al Señor, no podemos funcionar apartados, ni desvinculados de nosotros mismos, ni del resto del Cuerpo que es la Iglesia.

El apóstol Pablo le escribió: “Ya no hay judío, ni griego; ni hay esclavos ni libre; no hay varón ni mujer; porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús.” Gálatas 3:28 (versión Reina Valera 1960). Pablo enfatiza el hecho de que las diferencias que antes nos dividían tienen que dar paso a la unidad que se nos ha hecho posible mediante el evangelio.

Dentro de la diversidad de culturas tenemos que luchar y trabajar por la unión de todos los luteranos miembros de la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana en América. Por esta razón nos organizamos en asociación y adoptamos esta constitución, la cual, con el Espíritu Santo, guiará nuestro esfuerzo de trabajar juntos para la extensión del Reino de Dios.

Los propósitos:

• Contribuir a fortalecer la proclamación del Evangelio
• Promover la inclusividad, sin su asimilación, y diversidad, sin su segregación.
• combatir el racismo en esta Iglesia.

Para lograr estos propósitos:

• Ayudará a esta Iglesia a aumentar la feligresía hispana.
• Ayudando a todas la comisiones, divisiones, oficinas, entidades regionales, sínodos y congregaciones de esta iglesia, a lograr una mayor comprensión de la diversidad de culturas hispanas.
• Ayudando a esta Iglesia y todas sus subdivisiones a ser más representativa de la sociedad total a la cual sirve.
• Promoverá la máxima participación de personas hispanas en los programas de esta iglesia y en la conceptualización, diseño e implementación de nuevos programasEncourage and promote the maximum participation of Latinos in programs of the Church and in the conception, design and implementation of new programs.
• Promoverá los valores de nuestra herencia.
• Ayudará a esta Iglesia a lograr e implementar planes para el ministerio hispano.
• Ayudará a esta Iglesia a reclutar y brindar apoyo a los hispanos para que ocupen puestos de toma de decisiones dentro de la Iglesia.
• Afirmará el ministerio de pastores y laicos hispanos dentro de esta Iglesia.
• Fortalecerá las vocaciones eclesiásticas dentro de esta Iglesia.
• Será la voz representativa del pueblo Hispano de esta Iglesia.
