Environmental Education Program Staff at Lutheran Memorial Camp in Fulton, Ohio
We are now hiring for our fall OEE season which begins September 1 through October 28, 2011. Spring OEE season begins late February through early March-May 2012. Applications now accepted for both.
Responsibilities
Play a part of the environmental education rebuilding process at Lutheran Memorial Camp. Participate in the excitement of greeting school studens, parents and teachers while also facilitating learning sessions relationship building (yes, we have a climbing tower and zip line.) Renewable resources (our Plowshare experience includes a straw bale building and peddle powered farming equipment, pond/forest studies (a three-acre lake and alum Creek on the 421 acres; night awareness activities (ok, so cool, the Barred Owls fly and respond to our calls.) Portray an 1812 Ohio character for our Living History Tour; and soooooo much more!
Qualifications
Candidates must have a four year degree, or equivalent expeience, in fields related to children, education, sciences, recreation or ministry. Experience in youth camping, teaching, recreational programming and hospitality is helpful. Some positions are seasonal; some are nine month's with an option to remain for summer. Internships will be personalized to meet both student and camp requirements.
Compensation
Weekly salary, room/board and possible additional paid hours for weekends and retreats.

Adventure and/or Environmental Education Internships, Bethel Horizons, Dodgeville, Wisconsin
Adventure Program Responsibilities
Facilitation of team and high events programs; possible caving and rock and rappel, responsible for equipment care, logbook entries, and related up-keep of program material; assist in aspects of program management important for enhancing the experience of the interim position; a project involving landscape or design of a challenge event or development and implementation of activity/curriculum.
Environmental Program Responsibilities
Facilitation of environmental education program for school and non-school groups; assist with workshops, in-services, or special days led by the program director; assist in aspects of program management important for enhancing the experience of the intern position; a project involving the creation and design of a nature center exhibit for the nature center's hands-on exhibit room.
Combined Adventure/Environmental Responsibilities
Facilitation for adventure and environmental education programming; assist in program management of adventure and nature programs important for enhancing the experience of an intern.
Qualifications
College/post collegiate, positive attitude, energetic; good work ethic to work with people of all ages in outdoor setting; enthusiasm about working with secular and faith organizations; facilitation, belay/high ropes, rock climbing and naturalist experience helpful; commitment to environmental stewardship; life long learner.
Compensation
Full room and board, stipend.

Outdoor Education Instructor, Lutherhaven Ministries (Camp Lutherhaven & Shoshone Base Camp) Coeur, d'Alene, Idaho
We are now hiring for our 2010 Spring Season which begins mid April and goes through the end of May. The 2010 Fall season will begin the first week of September and go through the last week of October.
Responsibilities
Group leader and teacher in two and three day residential programs; develop and present outdoor classes; group building; special projects and light housekeeping; evening activities and mealtime duties.
Qualifications
Affirm basic Lutheran Christian values and strongly support the goals of Lutherhaven Ministries; work within the structure of an association ministry, compatible with ELCA, LCMS and secular constituents; positive attitude; energetic, dedicated, and able to become involved in all aspects of the program; foster a lifestyle of stewardship for creation; commitment to children and outdoor learning; experience working with children is preferred; teaching experience is not required, but a background in science is helpful; special skills, like music, singing, storytelling, drama, and group facilitating helpful.

Ongoing Recruitment for fall, winter and spring outdoor education sessions. Support staff/kitchen assistant positions are also available.
Compensation
Up to $250 per week, based on experience, with possible additional paid hours available on weekends at your request; full room and board.

Outdoor School Instructor positions, EL Camino Pines, Southern California
El Camino Pines Outdoor School is a residential program that emphasizes environmental education and community-building experiences primarily to upper-elementary age students located in the Los Pades National Forest, about two hours north of Los Angeles. Our mission is to provide quality learning experiences in the natural environment that teach students appreciation for nature and each other.
Responsibilities
Outdoor school instructors will lead programs and teach environmental education classes to grade school and junior high students from Christian and secular schools throughout southern California; participate in the facilitation of numerous ELCA youth events as well as programmed retreats throughout the year.
Qualifications
Understanding the philosophy and mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the programs of LRCC and EL Camino Pines. Strong commitment to the care and appreciation of God's creation and desire to communicate and practice that with other staff and students. At least two years of post-high school experience college or work. Leadership experience, camp experience, and an undergraduate degree are preferred. Must have interest in living and working in a "servant oriented" Christian community. Must be flexible and willing to help in all areas of camp life.
