What’s Different about a Church-Affiliated Organization?

Think about your organization as a part of the ministry of the church. In what ways does that identity make your organization different? Discuss this question in the light of the following criteria:

  1. An understanding of the organization’s programs as ministry.
  2. The support base of congregations for:
    • Accountability
    • Volunteer services
    • Fund development
    • Identity as an extension of their ministry
  3. High expectations of quality, reflecting the church’s involvement.
  4. Access to church-related networks for:
    • Peer support and Consultation
    • Conferences and training opportunities
    • Affirmation of the organization’s ministry
  5. The importance of spiritual care.
  6. A mission which has Christian orientation and ministry at heart.
  7. Staff who share a commitment to their work as ministry.
  8. Board governance with a theological perspective.
  9. Programs that are in harmony with the church’s policy statements.
