Body Systems

Nature Games and Activities for Church Camps

In this simple game, campers experience the complex systems of organs that compose a body. Make an outline of a dog or cow using cones or other markers to define the boundaries of this game. Each body system has a specific motion which the campers must perform when the brain, a camper chosen for that job, calls out that command. For instance, you might break down the motions as follows:

Heart – fold the hands and make a pumping motion

Lungs – exaggerated breathing

Muscles – run in place

Nerves – form a chain and relay squeeze pulses of the hand

Digestion – all the campers form a circle and move clockwise

Skin – campers lay down on the ground as if covering the body

Skeleton – campers stand as straight and tall as they can

Rotate the person who calls the motions by allowing the person nearest the head when the nerves are called to become the new brain. Use this activity to discuss the myriad of gifts within the church, and how they all work together in the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12.12 and following).
