The Lutheran World Federation is a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1947, The Lutheran World Federation now has 145 member churches in 79 countries representing more than 70.5 million Lutherans worldwide.
The Lutheran World Federation acts on behalf of its member churches through humanitarian assistance, human rights, ecumenical relations, theology, communication and mission and development work.
The ELCA is the only member church body from the United States.
