How Others Celebrate
How are others celebrating Bold Women’s Day?
The women at Our Saviour's Lutheran in Arlington Heights, Illinois, celebrated Bold Women's Day on August 28, 2011 and used it as a kick-off to fall programming. Our executive director preached, a litany was used during worship, officers and board members were installed, quilts and kits were blessed, displays were placed in the narthex and worshipers were invited to remeber their own bold acts.
At Hope Lutheran in Walker, Minn., the 2011 celebration involved displays of projects, programs and scheduled activities. All women who stopped by the displays were invited to sign their name on a “Bold Women” poster. Fair trade products were also featured as were the many outreach programs locally, nationally and worldwide supported financially by the women of Hope. Worship leaders that morning were women too.
Six women in Irondequoit, New York, were honored in 2009 for their bold faith by Transfiguration Lutheran. Biographies of the six women were printed in a
small booklet.
The women of Hope Lutheran in Klamath Falls, Oregon, passed out business card-sized sayings about being bold. They also used a bold women’s litany during worship in 2009.
Members at Prince of Peace Lutheran in Springfield, Missouri, celebrated throughout the entire month of February 2009, leading up to the arrival of an interim pastor. Women in the congregation preached and led worship.
In 2007 the women at Augustana Lutheran, Fergus Falls, Minnesota, celebrated Bold Women’s Day by dedicating quilts, school kits and prayer shawls during worship. They also used a bold women’s litany during worship.
