Opportunity Scholarships for Lutheran Laywomen
Purpose The purpose of the Opportunity Scholarships for Lutheran Laywomen is to provide assistance to women studying for a career other than the ordained ministry.
Eligibility and guidelines The applicant must:
- be a citizen of the United States of America.
- hold membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
- be at least 21 years old.
- have experienced an interruption in education of two or more years since completion of high school.
Specific scholarships There are a number of scholarships within the Opportunity Scholarships for Lutheran Laywomen category. Please select from those listed here for further information.
- Amelia Kemp Scholarship for ELCA women of color in undergraduate, graduate, professional or vocational courses of study
- Belmer/Flora Prince and Kahler, Vickers/Raup, Wettstein Scholarships for ELCA women studying for ELCA service abroad, either in general or in health professions associated with ELCA projects abroad
- Drinkall Franke/Seeley Knudstrup Scholarships for ELCA women in graduate courses of study preparing for occupations in Christian service
- Cronk Memorial, First Triennium Board, General, Mehring, Paepke, Piero/Wade/Wade, Edwin/Edna Robeck Scholarships for ELCA women in undergraduate, graduate, professional, or vocational courses of study
The application period for the 2010–2011 school year is now closed.
Application materials for the 2011–2012 school year will be posted on December 1, 2010.
