Supporting and understanding those with special needs
The 2008 Triennial Convention passed a resolution asking Women of the ELCA to "take an active role in providing support for families of special needs children" by providing links on our Web site to resources where "families can find support from other families and spiritual leaders." These pages respond to this resolution and are helpful to anyone who wants to better understand special needs and supporting persons with special needs in our congregations and communities.

Is your synodical women's organization on the Web?
The churchwide Women of the ELCA Web site now has a page with links to the Web pages of synodical women's organizations that have them. Find your SWO's Web site here. Your SWO doesn't have a Web site? Encourage your leadership to develop one; the churchwide office can advise on how to get started.

We've been talking ...
on our blog about lenten disciplines and about some of the great things Women of the ELCA congregational units are doing. Join the conversation. Become our fan on Facebook and follow us on Twitter too.

Sunday is Bold Women's Day

bold women's dayRegardless of whether you are observing the day in some fashion with your women's group or congregation, we invite you to reflect on what it means to act boldly on your faith in Jesus Christ. Over the past year, how have you acted boldly on your faith in Jesus Christ? During the coming year, how might you commit to acting boldly on your faith? See our Web pages for some ideas, and remember that women acting boldly on their faith is something to celebrate any day of the year!

renew, respond, rejoice

Theme verses: Philippians 4:4-9
("Rejoice in the Lord always ...")

We also are happy to share with you that one of our keynote speakers will be author and journalist Nora Gallagher. She has written for numerous magazines and newspapers, and her books include Practicing Resurrection: A Memoir of Work, Doubt, Discernment and Moments of Grace, and her most recent work, The Sacred Meal, reflections on the eucharist.

Bold Connections will continue to bring you updates on plans for the Triennial Gathering as they develop.

Ongoing response to the Haiti earthquake
Lutheran World Relief will continue to need quilts, health kits and layette kits to respond to the need in Haiti and elsewhere. (Did you know that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone was expecting a shipment from LWR but told them to divert it to Haiti?) Use these prayers for the dedication of quilts and relief projects with your group or your whole congregation.

Any funds you collect at a Women of the ELCA gathering can be sent through the churchwide office, which helps us track giving from the women's organization. 100% of your gift will be immediately forwarded to ELCA Disaster Response. Send your check with Form B to:
