Journaling: Create Your Own Sacred Writings
Journaling is an ancient way to reflect on the world around us and within us. It can open up pathways to new thoughts, new insights and new energy.
If you need some guidance on how to get started with a journal, this resource will show you the many benefits of regular journaling and set you on your way. Because journaling is personal, this resource is primarily for individuals; but it would also be good for a small group that wants to come together to learn about journaling and then support one another along the way by sharing tips, struggles, inspiration and success stories. Program resources for Advent and Christmas
In our short, two-part Advent program, Advent: A Season for All Generations, you'll discuss various customs of the season and explore the biblical figures of Advent, such as Zechariah and Elizabeth, Simeon and Anna, and Joseph and Mary.
The Colors of Christmas takes a look at the some of the customs around one of our favorite celebrations to help us better understand how our traditions began and the meaning behind them. Download one or both programs today to enhance your study and fellowship time this December.
Prayer shawl collection and quilt challenge announced
All women are invited to create prayer shawls that will be collected at the gathering and then distributed locally in Spokane, Wash.
You can also participate in the quilt challenge. Create a quilt that interprets the theme: Renew, Respond, Rejoice! Knitters and quilt-makers need not be planning to attend the triennial gathering in order to participate. Click on the links above for complete details. If every congregational unit of Women of the ELCA made 25 prayer shawls, we'd collect over 170,000. Imagine that!
See our Triennial Gathering pages for complete information on our great line-up of speakers, worship leaders and workshops, and to register. Register by Dec. 15 to be entered into a drawing for special prizes, including complimentary hotel rooms and meals.
