DAY 40: Thankfulness
Sometimes You Just Have To Sing!
Colossians 3:[1-11], 12-17
…with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
Saying "thank you" is a quick response to someone for something nice that has been done or said. On the other extreme, gratitude is more of a relationship of ongoing thankfulness for something we can never stop being thankful for, such as the sacrifice and love that Christ has shown us.
The most common place we experience ongoing thankfulness is in and through worship. We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. But we are also called to expand on that experience by allowing "the word of Christ" to dwell in us richly. We are made new when the word of Christ dwells in us. We are so changed, that we cannot help but sing songs to God everyday. We want to share that joy with everyone, not just with those who sing with us in worship.
Don't lose touch with your spiritual roots. Allow Christ to dwell in you everyday, to the point that you're bursting to share his love with everyone you meet. There are people everywhere that hunger deeply for words, songs, and actions of hope, joy, and encouragement.
What is my faith in Jesus pushing or pulling me to do?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to be so overjoyed by your presence in my life that I reflect your love to everyone I come in contact with. Amen
Action step:
Sing your favorite hymn or camp song of praise today. Hum it if you don't know the words--fake it it! Let it lift your spirit and move you to action.
