Themes for 2010
January / FebruaryA Time of Transition—The Stewardship and Education of Leadership for church vocations and for laity
The Study for Theological Education was published in 1993. What were the themes of that Study, and what do those themes mean for leadership today and in the near future? What should seminaries be teaching and what should seminarians know? This issue will also examine other routes of leadership development, such as TEEM, synodically authorized ministries, and the integral role of theological education for laity.
March / April
Christian Ministry with and among Young Adults
What should our leaders know about the values and passions of the men and women of this generation? What are their spiritual questions and where do they go to find answers? How might ministry with this generation affect preaching, teaching, the use of Scripture, fellowship, and worship?

Lessons from the Church’s Growing Edge
Today, the growing edge of the Christian movement is coming from nations in the Southern Hemisphere. What does this currently mean and what may it mean for the U.S. church/global church? What does it mean for global Lutheranism? Even more so, what does it mean to congregational leadership in the U.S.?

Health, Wellness, and the Role of Faith
What place does the Christian Faith have in the scientific world of medicine, health, and wellness? What is healing? How should rostered leadership assess scientific studies which seem to show that “faith” and “prayer” are vital aspects of the healing arts? The issue will share perspectives from both ELCA rostered leaders, as well as laity called to the vocation of healing.

Youth, Worship and Music
Worship is for all the baptized of all ages. This issue will focus on what leadership should know about involving its youth in worship, including an emphasis on the role music is playing in the faith development of youth.
November / December
Leadership and Volunteers in a Congregation
How do you develop leaders and pass on congregational leadership skills? How do you sustain leadership over time? What should rostered leaders know as they administer this part of congregational life?
