The Life Laid Down

The Life Laid Down
The life laid down;
the jewel,
the crown,
the triumph in the loss…

No thief can steal
Our hope
made real;
the triumph of the cross.

Michael M. Middleton is a poet who lives in Lacy, Washington. The poem first appeared in the author’s book, Modern Musings (Publish America, 2003).
