This issue will zero in on the shaping and care for our church's current and future leadership, both rostered and lay, to serve God's mission in Christ through their vocational calls. We will revisit the Study for Theological Education, published in 1993, and its implications for leadership today. We will also look at how seminaries are grappling with what students need to know for mission and ministry today. A parish pastor tells the story of how his "teaching" congregation is intentionally preparing laity to serve God's mission in Christ. Finally, we will look at a synod's Parish Ministry Associates program, which delivers theological education for laity and synodically authorized ministers.
