Become a Diaconal Minister
Community is the 6th of the “
Six Marks of Diaconal Ministry” and an important part of a diaconal minister’s grounding in ministry. Community life is a point of transition from diaconal ministry candidate to diaconal minister, which occurs after the candidate’s consecration to diaconal ministry. At that time, the diaconal minister becomes a voting member of the ELCA Diaconal Ministry Community. It is also the first step after candidacy and is a major transition for many. A candidate becomes a voting member of the ELCA Diaconal Ministry Community after assignment to a synod, acceptance of a call, consecration and installation.
