In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the synodical bishops oversee the ministry of other pastors and congregations. Therefore, synods oversee the entry rites into rostered ministry (Ordination of Pastors, Commissioning of Associates in Ministry, and Consecration of Deaconnesses and Diaconal Ministers), the installation of rostered leaders, and the invitation of rostered leaders to serve in ministry in our ecumenical partner churches.
