Bishop James Hazelwood of the ELCA New England Synod, will be on tour this spring to talk about what’s next for Lutherans in New England – one of the most “unchurched” regions in the United States. In a series of town hall conversations to be held in ELCA congregations there, Bishop Hazelwood will engage ELCA members on how “we are church together,” outreach, stewardship and more. ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton released a video calling on our 3.8 million-member church to talk about racial equity and to work toward reconciliation. “Because of God’s promise, we can and must have a deep, honest and even painful conversation about racism,” she says.
