Act Now
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill’, and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. James 2:14-17

ONE Lutheran Campaign
Organize a Jubilee action party and build a movement for the passage of the Jubilee Act!
With the global economic crisis, 100 million more people will be pushed into extreme poverty in 2009, and impoverished countries are slipping further and further away from reaching the Millennium Development Goals. That is why we are asking you to host a Jubilee Action Party to get Lutherans mobilized for economic justice and join the campaign to pass the Jubilee Act.
The Jubilee Act calls for debt cancellation without harmful economic policy conditions, while ensuring transparency and accountability. It also urges responsible lending in the future to avoid a new debt crisis.
We encourage you to host your action meeting around mid-January to give you and fellow activists time to plan and organize an action for the "Change Not Chains" Week of Action to be held February 15-21.
Here are some resources to assist you in that planning:Signs of Change Letter for Congregations

With more than half of Darfur’s seven million people either internally or externally displaced and exclusively dependent on external aid for shelter, food and water, the conflict in Darfur represents the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today.
