Pilgrims on the Justice Journey
First Lutheran Church - ELCA
Vista, California

I belong to a congregation in Vista, CA (First Lutheran). We have been busy this Christmas Season (2008).
  • Our Family Group took a Sunday afternoon to push shopping carts door to door gathering food for our local Interfaith Ministry's Food Pantry
  • Our Tea Group "Empty Nesters" gave a Christmas Party/dinner for the women in a crisis home for mentally disabled women over 60. (We provide them with paper products and some food all year) In addition to practical stuffed Christmas stockings, the WELCA Women at church made blankets for each woman in the home.
  • Our tea group and the youth of our church cook for the local cold weather shelter a couple of times a month.
  • Our congregation gave Christmas Baskets to 12 needy families.
  • Through a donation, a member who is a Chaplin in the Navy found two needy Military families to receive gift cards to Toys R Us!
