Activities for Teens

 
  • Pray for peace in the world, in your community, in your school, in your family and in your own heart, daily
  • Memorize a bible verse about peace (NOTE: add link to scripture references here)
  • Attend church at least once a week (and don’t forget to invite your friends and your parents to go with you!)
  • Participate in a Global Mission Event (current address: http://www.elca.org/gme/GME2008/ ) where you’ll have the opportunity to expand your international network of friends!
  • Apologize when you do something wrong and forgive someone when they apologize to you
  • Learn about the “Pledge of Nonviolence” and find other great resources at http://www.ipj-ppj.org/children%20&%20youth.htm
  • Keep a journal or blog about ways in which you are a peacemaker at home, at school or when you are with your friends
  • Write a poem or a song, or make a video or a poster about peacemaking
  • Participate in the International Day of Prayer for Peace, September 21 (Link to material on web of US DOV Committee of WCC)
  • Volunteer to serve on a Peace Team or Committee at your church or school
  • Fold a “Peace Crane” and hang it in your house and/or use it as a Christmas tree ornament.

  • Learn about someone who has been a peacemaker in your community or in the world
  • Attend a training event related to peacemaking, justice and/or nonviolence
  • Play video games that are non-violent
  • Find out about PeaceJam http://www.peacejam.org/ and GET INVOLVED!
  • Learn about public policy issues related to peace and justice (see ELCA Advocacy -current address: http://www.elca.org/advocacy/) and VOTE if you are old enough
  • Join the ELCA Equipping for Peacemaking Network
