The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan & the Holy Land (ELCJHL)
Recently the ELCJHL celebrated a trio of anniversaries: its own 50th anniversary, the 30th anniversary of the Arab bishopric, and 170 years of evangelical Lutheran witness in Palestine. With the theme of "Living Witness - Creative Diakonia," the anniversaries were marked with dancing, exhibits, speeches and praise to God on May 16-17, 2009. Read the English and Spanish translations of Bishop Munib Younan's sermon delivered during the celebratory worship service at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Jerusalem, on May 17, 2009. (Visit www.elcjhl.org for photos and more news about the celebration.)

Other Programs
Women’s Programs - Women of the ELCJHL are like women everywhere -- busy with trying to develop themselves and find balance in faith, life, work and family. But they have complications most people would never even think of.
Lutheran Schools - The ELCJHL Schools and Educational Programs are designed to meet the needs of the Palestinian people as a whole. In embracing and empowering students and families in the region from all religious, economic and social backgrounds, the programs provide the opportunity to live and to learn under the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Youth Programs - Learn what is happening with and for the young people of our Lutheran congregations in Palestine and Jordan.
Folk Dance Tour - Schools of the ELCJHL teach tradional folk dancing to many of their students. From Ramallah, in the West Bank, a group of young folk dancers traveled to the United States in 2004 to share their culture and help Americans understand who they are and how they live. The teens are members of the Al Raja Palestinian Folkloric Dance Troupe at the Evangelical Lutheran School of Hope in Ramallah.
Palestinian Crafts - Purchase crafts for congregational craft fairs or for your own personal gifts as a way to positively invest in the Palestinian economy.
Video Workshop
Lutheran documentary filmmaker Tim Frakes recently led video workshops for Palestinian Lutheran school students. The free workshops taught high school students the basics of website and video production.

Other Ministries
Love Thy Neighbor (LTN) is an ecumenical organization dedicated to promoting and facilitating grassroots nonviolence initiatives in support of peace and justice in Palestine/Israel, and to educating about the nonviolence efforts of the region.
Based on the continued success of its nonviolence summer training programs in 2007 and 2008, LTN has expanded its Palestinian outreach to maintain a consistent presence in Palestine and to promote Palestinian leadership. LTN's Palestinian facilitators Mona El-Zuhairi, and Mohammad Mashour will lead these efforts in Palestine through LTN's Palestinian project, Nonviolence Youth (NV Youth).
NV Youth, which has an office space in Ramallah, has finished two nonviolence trainings in 2009, one in Ramallah and one in Qalqilya, and is planning more in the future with the support of the ELCA. Each training is done in cooperation with another nonviolence organization in Palestine to continue the nonviolence networking efforts and to grow the circle of nonviolence in Palestine. See a video clip of The Living Nonviolence Peace Camp held at the Lutheran School of Hope in Ramallah in July 2007. To learn more the full reports on these trainings write to lovetn@gmail.com.
Mount of Olives Housing Project - Christians in the Holy Land need our help. Together we can build a housing project that will help alleviate the critical shortage of housing and strengthen the dwindling Christian presence in Jerusalem. FAQs concerning the MOHP are now available. Mt of Olives Housing project is a three-way partnership between the LWF, ELCJHL and the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria Foundation (KAVF).
