July 8-22, 2010: Youth Mission to Holy Land

A new initiative that grew out of Southeast Michigan Synod’s tradition of taking youth to the Holy Land is inviting other ELCA synods to send youth (ages 15 through 22) to join in a leadership and peace-building youth trip to the Holy Land July 8-22 of 2010. Ecumenical and interfaith participation is also encouraged.

Cost is expected to be $2000 plus airfare.  This is a great next step for the heightened interest in the Holy Land generated by the Bishops’ Academy trip there in January. For more information, please contact peacenotwallsinfo@elca.org.

Traveling to the Holy Land opened my eyes to the challenges faced by my brothers and sisters in Christ and their resilient hope for peace and justice. I returned forever changed, and knew I wanted to uphold my promises that I would someday come back.

We feel so honored to be a part of this ministry. It makes us feel like people in the US really care about what happens to us. Thank you for building bridges not walls.
