Red River Flooding

What Happened

With the threat of flooding now subsided, residents along the Red River of the North, as well as overland locations throughout North Dakota, are beginning the long process of clean-up and recovery.  Even as many celebrate that the worst-case scenarios originally predicted did not come true, many others now face months of uncertainty.

Throughout North Dakota, Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is taking a lead, in partnership with the other members of the state VOAD, in helping those affected to start their recovery process.  Many of the affected areas have received Federal disaster declarations, making financial resources available for individual households.

In Minnesota, where towns like Oslo were completely inundated with water during the peak of the flooding, is facing similar issues, and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is helping residents there in navigating the same recovery process.
