Additional vehicles for giving
Cash gifts make a life-changing difference today for people who are hungry and maximize your charitable deduction. Many additional vehicles for charitable giving may help you achieve your personal financial goals while supporting ministry.
The IRA rollover enjoyed by many charitable donors in 2006 and 2007 has been extended for 2008 and 2009. If you meet the requirements, you can support ELCA World Hunger directly from your IRA without recognizing the distribution as income on your tax return. Learn more
Gifts of appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds) can allow you to take a deduction for the current market value on the date of the gift and avoid capital gains tax. Gifts of real estate will allow you to receive the maximum tax deduction allowed by law, bypass capital gain tax, provide you an opportunity to establish a gift that provides an income for life, and make a substantial donation for ministry. Life income agreements, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts can allow you to receive income while you are living and then provide a gift to support ministry. Learn more
