What are you doing for Lazarus Sunday?

This Sunday (April 10) is Lazarus Sunday

This Sunday the Gospel reading will be the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead in the Gospel of John. Today the "Lazarus Effect" is a reality in African communities affected by HIV and AIDS, thanks to the generosity of people like you. Antiretroviral drugs transform the lives of people near death to health in as little as three months. Your gifts to support the HIV and AIDS work of ELCA World Hunger make this possible.

Take advantage of this special opportunity to lift up the HIV and AIDS work of this church during your worship service on Sunday, April 10.

ELCA Good Gifts for Easter

Easter chicks and fluffy ducklings abound at Easter time -- what better time to bless
a family in need with the gift of chicks or ducks that can help fight hunger?

A chick, starting at just $1, can provide a family with an abundance of protein-rich eggs to eat and some to sell at the market. At $20, a duck is the best pesticide around -- eating all of the insects that harm a farmer's crops, while fertilizing the fields at the same time.

World Malaria Day is April 25

Malaria is preventable and treatable, yet far too many still die from this disease. A child dies from malaria every 45 seconds. Today, we are in a special moment when we can turn this around. Already, the rate of death from malaria among children has been reduced by a third. And now you are invited to join with the ELCA in working to eliminate deaths from malaria -- for good. The ELCA Malaria Campaign will help our companion churches in Africa provide mosquito nets, insecticides, medication, mosquito control and comprehensive health education -- methods proven to be highly effective in fighting malaria.

Since World Malaria Day falls on Easter Monday, you may consider observing World Malaria Day during your worship service on Easter Sunday, April 24, or Sunday, May 1.
