Linda's Story
 |
Caregivers stopped to talk to Linda. She was lying on a small mat outside her family's home in Mozambique. Linda was wracked by two deadly diseases - AIDS and malaria. The caregivers asked Linda how she was feeling. "I am hungry," she said. Linda struggled with two series illnesses, but what she felt most acutely was lack of food. In the slums of Maputo, Mozambique, HIV rates are extremely high. A church-based program equips people living with HIV or AIDS and other community leaders to reach out and help those in the community who are struggling with sickness and isolation. |

The community leaders pictured here are part of a global movement to encourage and support HIV - positive people to halt the spread of HIV, eliminate stigma and discrimination and reduce the conditions of poverty.
