More than 12 million children under the age of 18 in sub-Saharn Africa have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Jonson, pictured, has found help and comfort from an orphan care program in Tanzania. Many programs assist orphans with food, shelter, legal protection, school supplies and fees, vocational training, health care and counseling; but it is the steady, faithful presence of the caring staff and volunteers from these programs that often has the deepest impact on the children. |
