In sub-Saharan Africa, one in five childhood deaths is due to malaria. The disease is preventable and treatable, yet it claims nearly one million lives each year. Malaria is contracted from the bite of an infected mosquito and affects all age groups-especially children, pregnant women and babies. The ELCA Malaria Campaign is bringing bed nets, health education, mosquito control and malaria treatment to communities across Africa. These prevention efforts are saving lives. |
