Walk for Water trunk show  >
The Walk for Water trunk show is an opportunity for youth and adults to experience first-hand what it is like to carry a 5-gallon jug of water (41.5 pounds) through a simulated water-collection experience. Throughout the simulation each participant follows one of four stories to guide him/her along the track and confronts different obstacles along the way.

By the end of the journey participants will have gained perspective on some of the struggles those walking for their daily supply of water may encounter. The Walk for Water trunk show debuted at the 2012 Youth Gathering in New Orleans and makes for a great activity for youth groups or community events.

Bible study and discussion questions
1. When God sets the Israelites free, God guides them through the troubled waters of the Red Sea. When they thirst in the desert, God provides water out of a rock. Why do you think water plays such a central role in these foundational stories?

2. Jesus said, “I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink... Just as you did to one of the least of these, who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25: 31-46). Who are "the least of these" in our world today?

3. Water also plays a key role in baptism. In the baptismal covenant and the Affirmation of Baptism outlined in Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) we make commitments to "care for others and the world that God made" and to "work for justice and peace" (p. 228). How do we live faithfully into this covenant?
