Stand With Africa
Joyce Namatovu lives in Uganda, near Rakai, one of the areas where AIDS was first identified over 30 years ago. She is guardian to her three grandsons, after their parents died of AIDS. The family lived with extreme poverty.
Thankfully, Joyce found a connection to community partners receiving funds from Stand With Africa. This community group repaired Joyce’s house and provided household items, including beds and mattresses. The family also received a water tank and a system to improve their access to clean water.
Stand With Africa is a special “second-mile” emphasis of the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, in partnership with Lutheran World Relief, the Lutheran World Federation, and our companion churches in Africa. Your gifts to Stand With Africa help our neighbors in Africa withstand HIV/AIDS, banish hunger, and build peace.
