Love

Christianity is obsessed with love. It is listed first among the fruits of the Spirit, the central tenet of both of Christ's commandments, and that which brings God to offer us salvation. It is no surprise, then, that love is so controversial. Throughout history, great goods and great evils have been done under the supposed banner of love, particularly the love of Christ. Each generation is asked to rediscover what love could mean and does mean for them and whether or not it can be reconciled with controversial areas of life and human relations. As Lutherans, our focus on the grace of God means a focus on the love of Christ, calling us to continually renew our commitment to exploring the height, width, and depth of the love that we hold so central to our faith.
