Commercial Sexual Exploitation

Resolved
To adopt [the text of] “Commercial Sexual Exploitation,” as amended, as a message of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; and
To direct the Division for Congregational Ministries, in cooperation with the Division for Church in Society, to prepare resource material:
- To facilitate discussion among men and male youth that addresses the meaning of their baptismal calling for their sexuality, especially in relation to prostitution, pornography, and stripping; and
- To educate women, girls, men, and boys about the pervasiveness of the commercial sex system, and equip them to resist exploitation by this system; and
To request that the Board of Pensions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in cooperation with this church’s corporate social responsibility program, review its investments in Social Purpose funds in light of the screen on pornography and to take appropriate action.
