Resolved
To request the Division for Church in Society review “Policies and Procedures of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for Addressing Social Concerns” and to address the following processes in this review:
Timely review and response by the Conference of Bishops and Church Council to drafts of social statements;
Evaluation of how the substance and spirit of social statements have been implemented by churchwide units and affiliated organizations with regular reporting to the Church Council and Churchwide Assembly; and
To request that a report and possible recommendations be brought to the November 2004 meeting of the ELCA Church Council.
