Passed by the 2004 ELCA Church Council.

To receive the response of the Division for Global Mission to the resolution of the Upper Susquehanna Synod related to Gambella, Ethiopia;

To acknowledge the ongoing discussion between the Division for Global Mission and the leadership of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus regarding the plight of theAnuak people of the Gambella region of Ethiopia;

To anticipate continuing efforts by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in consultation with the Ethopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, to determine the proper response and support from this church to the people affected by this crisis; and

To request the secretary of this church to inform the synod of this action.
