Between March and October 2008, 62 synods of the ELCA hosted hearings for an opportunity for Lutherans to discuss the Draft Social Statement on Human Sexuality. Responses from these gatherings were submitted to the task force who will now consider all comments and develop a proposed social statement, which is expected to be brought, through the Church Council, to the 2009 Churchwide Assembly for consideration.
