Preface to Social Pronouncements of the Augustana Lutheran Church, 1937-1962

In 1956 the Augustana Lutheran Church published in pamphlet form the Social Pronouncements of the Augustana Lutheran Church and its Conferences 1937-1956.

Since the supply of this pamphlet will soon be exhausted, the Board of Social Ministry of the Lutheran Church in America decided to multilith the social statements of the Augustana Lutheran Church in their entirety, from 1937-1962. Thus this heritage will continue to be available for those wishing to know how Augustana declared itself on matters of social concern.

The pronouncements of the respective conferences of the Augustana Church have not been included. The subject headings are the same as those used by the United Lutheran Church in its publication, Social Statements of the United Lutheran Church in America 1918-1962.
