Citizenship

A Statement of the United Lutheran Church in America, 1922

1922: Minutes, 3rd Biennial Convention, ULCA, pp. 416, 422.

It is our conviction that Christian citizenship is a very real and tangible thing; we would therefore urge our people to exercise in their own communities the duties and prerogatives of their citizenship in an earnest and sustained effort to promote righteousness and social justice. We especially direct attention to the vices of prostitution, gambling) improper moving pictures, common dance halls, a wide open commercialized Sunday and similar flagrant evils and urge that, as Christian citizens, we exert our influence individually and through proper agencies in their suppression.
