Hope Lutheran Church
Hope Lutheran Church, which was organized on Feb. 10, 1907 as a member of the General Synod, and was located at 855 N. Monticello Ave., at Iowa St.
Worshipping originally in a store at Lawndale and Chicago Avenues, lots were purchased in 1907 at Monticello Ave. and Iowa Street. Construction of the building began in 1909. In 1924 the building was enlarged and improved.
Hope merged in 1929 with Epiphany Lutheran Church, which was organized in 1904 as a member of the English Synod of the General Synod. The resulting body, Hope Epiphany Lutheran, continued to use Hope's building.
In 1973 Hope Epiphany merged with Advent to form Incarnation Lutheran at 1345 N. Karlov Ave. On March 19, 1994 Incarnation consolidated with New Hope Lutheran to form Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church at 1345 N. Karlov Ave.
