Wicker Park Evangelical Lutheran Church

Wicker Park Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in 1879 as a member of the Pittsburgh Synod of the General Council. Rev. Edmund Belfour of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at Dearborn Ave. and East Erie St., organized the English-speaking congregation, which purchased an unfinished frame church building at 2112 W. LeMoyne St., and completed its construction, dedicating the building on January 18, 1880. In 1897, the congregation joined the General Council's Chicago Synod.
In 1906-1907 a larger, stone building (pictured above) was built on the same site.
From 1980 through 1991, Wicker Park shared its pastor with Simon Peter Lutheran Church, until that body disbanded.
